Perhaps the greatest threat to our democracy is the evolution of social media and the ruthless spreading of lies and disinformation on these platforms. Trump will be recognized as the king of spreading falicies on this platform, just as he continues to do on so many levels as President.

What is frightening are the tens of millions of Americans who believe what they are told by Trump and his Fox News talking heads. Supposition is elevated to fact by the minute. Intelligent discourse becomes a challenge because we no longer agree on a set of facts. Political discussions quickly decline into rancorous discourse even in family units.

Truth no longer matters. Trump understands this and the old adage that if you repeat the lie long enough people will believe it. Take a deep breath. There will be no more name calling or firings on Twitter, at least not from the President of the United States. At least not for the next four years.
